The isles where Murano originates are located along the Marani Canal and they are divided by canals and rivers connected to one another by bridges; their area is completely urbanised, except for Sacca San Mattia which is in a cleaning-up phase. Two of the isles have an artificial origin: Sacca Serenella and Sacca San Mattia.
Its downtown is world-famous for its centuries-old artisanal activity of Murano’s glass manufacture.
